M.I.A.

“Very happy about this. One of the main reasons I love this band so much, is that they had the balls and the vision to push the envelope well beyond the limitations of “loud-fast-hard” (which they had already mastered better than most of their peers with their first two albums)… at a time when most other bands of that era were just speeding up to the point of blurry, tuneless white noise. English punk bands seemed to get a lot more praise for this kind of evolution than American bands did for some weird reason, but M.I.A., and a few others threw out the rule book and made some really great sounds here. I still have my original copies of these, but I definitely plan on picking up the reissues.”

— Brew Kerr, on the reissues of Notes From the Underground and After the Fact
